We teach kayak skills from absolute beginner upwards. The club supplies equipment for club sessions; bring clothes you do not mind getting wet.

The published age guidance welcomes people over 14, and young people aged 12–14 with a parent present. There is no upper age limit.

Our insurance (British Canoeing affiliation) allows 3 sessions before you have to join the club as a paid member. We also allow 3 free taster sessions.

Our membership fee is only £5 per year and starts from the date you joined the club after your first 3 sessions. To sign up, please use the link below to pay for the yearly membership.

We charge £5 per year to be a club member, this allows you to attend a session or play for Penrith Canoe Club in a tournament. For club sessions we charge either £25 per month for one session a week (two over summer) or Pay As You Go for £10 per session.

The following wording is retained from the previous website for clarity. It mentions a different summer venue and fee, so please check with the club before paying.

Session fees for Winter (September to May, weather dependant)

In winter we run sessions at Penrith Leisure Centre, we charge £25 per member per month. This covers 1 session a week and includes the use of club kit (Kayak, Helmet, Paddle, Buoyancy Aid, and Spray Deck). In addition, we will try and run an additional session on the lake for those who have their own kit and this will be an informal session.

Session fees for Summer (May to September, weather dependant)

In summer we run sessions at Ullswater Yacht Club, we charge £15 per member per month. This covers any of the sessions and includes the use of club kit (Kayak, Helmet, Paddle, Buoyancy Aid, and Spray Deck). We typically run a coached session on Monday and an open session on Thursday.
